A traditional Vienna-style lager brewed with rich German malts. Showcasing warming notes of honey and toasted barley finishing with a slight bitterness and noble spice from German Hersbrucker hops.

Pours a beautiful clear copper color with a dense, creamy off-white head that is Saran Wrap on the glass the entire time you’re enjoying the beer. The nose features spicy rye bread aromas, a bit of floral hops, and a nutty malt aroma. O. M. G.
The spicy rye bread flavor is forward and dominant, with balance provided by the floral hop notes (thank you, noble Hersbrucker hops!!!) and the nutty flavor at the back of the palate. What a delicious Vienna lager this is.
The mouthfeel is medium and very crisp, on point for the style. Maplewood is a brewery that flies a bit under the radar in the Chicago beer scene, but do not underestimate them - everything of theirs that I’ve had has been excellent.

Poured into pint glass. High retention on a beige head. Bold amber body.
Slightly sweet spicy nose.
Tastes follows with malty sweetness with a bit of bready spice and some herbal hop on the finish.
Smooth mouth.
Great amber lager. Maplewood are versatile and everything has its own thing going on.

I tried a couple of pints of this beer off the tapper at Rare Chophouse in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. It poured a dark clear amber with white head that left some lace. The scent had Vienna malt notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with semi sweet malt base and euro finishing hops. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

draft pour into a pint glass. murky amber with a huge dark khaki head. a little dark for a vienna lager. bit of chill haze going on but after it warms up a little light shows through. malts with a little bit of hoppiness. has a certain caramel character to it in smell and taste. medium-full mouthfeel with good carb. solid lager.

Canned 10/3/22; drank 10/24/22 @ the Yarchives.
Mostly clear brown/orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a huge khaki head; strong, frothy lace.
Rye bread, acorn & faint fresh corn notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Fresh bread, rye spice & mild acorn flavors.
Yep, fall in a glass. This one is very good!
