Blended from Cuppa aged in Elijah Craig 18 barrels for 15 months. A formidable stout brewed to showcase the expression of the barrels used in the aging process. For this release, no adjuncts were used: this Cuppa is served “neat”.

I had this on draft 5/29/24 @ the Hopleaf.
Black appearance.
Almost no dark tan head; no lacing remained.
Bubblegum, wood & strong bourbon heat notes in the nose.
An odd smell for a barrel aged stout.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Bubblegum, band aid, wood, bourbon & a hint of chocolate on the palate.
I like this series in general, but this was an off-putting mess.

This is a really good barrel aged stout without adjuncts. It looks nearly black and viscous, with no head. Smooth whiskey barrel taste with a rich chocolate, oak and vanilla notes, bourbon, some alcohol warming, a bit of roasted malt and char. Rich feel and smooth. Great craftsmanship.
