We took one of the key hops (and one of our favorites) from Juice Pants, and decided to release a variant using only Citra...and lots of it.

Showcasing Citra hops and Citra cryo, this complex and tropically pungent juice bomb is exploding with citrus zest and peach with underlying notes of pineapple.

Canned 5/29/24 (7 weeks ago)

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity) pale yellow/golden color with a strong white head. SRM of 7. (4.00)

Aroma: orange, pineapple, tropical, melon, mango. Some sweet peach cream. (4.00)

Flavor: Strong flavors of orange, pineapple, mango, peach. Juicy, creamy, mildly sweet. (4.25)

Feel: Medium to heavier body, appropriate carbonation, a creamy smooth, finish mildly sweet. (4.25)

Compared to Barrel Theory Rain Drops 7/24: Pours lighter, hazier. Stronger aromas. More orange, pineapple, mango, peach cream. Less tropical melon and berries. Sweeter.

to Toppling Goliath King Sue 7/24: Pours identical. Stronger aromas. More orange, pineapple, mango, passionfruit. Less orange flower and creamsicle. Sweeter and Juicier.

to Hop Butcher Dun Dun Dun 8/24: Pours slightly darker, similar head. Similar aromas. More tropical pineapple, melon. Less nectarine and stonefruit. Juicier but cleaner.

to Hop Butcher Double Grid 9/24: Pours lighter, similar head. Milder aromas. More orange, pineapple, juice. Less tropical melon, blueberries. Cleaner.

Overall: Haven't reviewed much Maplewood especially their IPAs, but picked some up on the way to the Sheboygan festivities this past weekend. Glad I did. All Citra, but smooth and creamy as other reviewers have mentioned. Comes through with the flavors and creaminess. This is an outstanding IPA. (Rating: 4.18)

Canned on 5/29/2024. Poured into a nonic ping glass. It's a dense, dirty orange color with a large cap of fluffy, bright white foam and lots of thick, soapy lacing. The fragrant smell includes vibrant pineapple, peach, lemon, and grapefruit. I could smell it as soon as I popped the can. The Citra hops really shine with bright notes of peach, pineapple, lemon, and stone fruit. While not overtly malty, there is an underlying earthy, slightly resinous, base, with mild, clean bitterness throughout. A true fruit bomb. This ale is moderate in body and carbonation, and at 7% ABV it is very easy to drink. Overall, with all of the experimentation in hop bills it is a pleasure to drink a well-crafted, All-Citra IPA. Citra Juice Pants is worth seeking out.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a good-sized, white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of orange, pineapple, grapefruit, mango and toasted caramel. Sweet tropical fruit taste with lots of grapefruit, toasted caramel and a piney bitterness.

Pretty close to perfect. A very rare day! I love everything going on here. Dense but prickly and dry. Intensely fruity but still centered around beautiful barley, wheat and oats. On par with anything by Abomination, Trillium, hop butcher, north park etc. Genuine Treehouse rival and that’s saying a lot for me!

Pours a very hazy pineapple color with a creamy oatmeal colored head that coats the glass. Gorgeous hazy. Lots of citrus notes on the nose as expected with the single hopping with Citra hops, with orange zest very prominent, and lots of mango and pineapple as well, and a good bit of peach as well. Wow.

The taste is also led by the orange zest, and there’s loads of mango, pineapple, and peach as well, and a bit of creamy oats on the finish.

The mouthfeel is soft and juicy as expected. I love the OG, and I love this variant a little bit more. World class stuff, IMHO.
