16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 3/15/24, had 9/22/24.
Pours near black and opaque, with a half inch head of darker foam and some foamy lacing. Aromas of bourbon, roasted malt, oak, chocolate, light tobacco and leather, light vanilla. The flavors are mostly similar: bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, oak, some caramel, light vanilla and leather. Smooth, fairly thick, a very good full body, appropriately carbonated.
Rich and delicious. Barrel forward, with lots of oak and chocolate notes. Just a delightful sipper.

2024 vintage; drank 2/9/25 @ the Hopleaf.
Black appearance.
No head; no lacing remained.
Burnt wood, caramel & bourbon heat notes in the nose.
Thick mouthfeel.
Burnt wood, dark chocolate & mild caramel flavors up front; bourbon heat emerged as this warmed.
Russian Imperial Stout vibes that work for me; robust & enjoyable.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like chocolate chips, cocoa powder, roasted malt, cookie dough, barrel char, and oak.
This is supremely fudgy, without any additional chocolate added, with some caramel, heavy char, barrel spice, oak, and rich espresso notes. There’s a lot here from just the barrel and the stout.
This has a decent balance to it – it’s definitely good a good body, and is certainly not thin, but the body is not ridiculously syrupy or thick, which allows the wonderful barrel character to come through. There’s not a ton of booziness, and it honestly drinks pretty easy.
I’ve only had the adjuncted versions of this beer – I definitely prefer this unadorned take.

Pitch black body with a brown head. Aromas of a toasty barrel with dark fruit, vanillins and molasses emphases, bond so smoothly with the roasty dark chocolate stout. Taste is much the same, barrel is really shown off here getting plenty of tannins, bourbon booze, molasses, toasted caramel, with lighter char, earth and vanillins. Feel is lighter and drier, welcomed in 2024 craft beer scene, with a smooth refinement that never abandons the palate, warming. A pretty neat if you ask me! The wife liked it
