22oz Black and Tan - mix of their IPA and Porter. Pours a lovely cola color with vigorous cake head that leaves a solid layer on top of the beer and lacing down the glass.

Smell is roasted malts, hints of coffee, faint smokiness; more porter than IPA.

Thin roasted flavor - hints of... vegetables? Light hop bitteness - not a nice hop flavor. Light body, off aftertaste - ewch.

This is only the second bottled Black and Tan I've had (the other was quite ncie) so the reference point is limited but this is the worst I've had. Off flavors mixed with thin flavors make this one just barely bearable.

A pretty good drinking dark beer with their tasty porter used as the dark base. Lots of malt with a fair hop backbone sets up this full flavoured beer for an easy pint that does its mojo. Along with Shaftebury's Winter Nights this is a style that should become more popular.

My second black & tan. I don't recall this being listed on the brewerys website, but that could just be me....

Pours a dark amber colour, with a thick, foamy, mildly off white head. The smell is sweet, malty and has hints of caramel -more brown ale than lager or pale ale.

Taste is okay. Leans more towards the ale side, and is thus not well balanced. Seems a bit sweet, overly malty and has a bit of an acid feel to it.

This is good, but not great. The drinkability is hampered by the tinny, acid hints in the flavour and the overarching sweetness to it.
