Pours a dark shade of brown with minimal lacing. Just enough to cover the glass rim. Smells of malts and caramel. Not overly complex but it does deliver a sweet nose. Taste follows the nose nicely. A nice roasted presence along with sweetness from caramel and honey. Very little carbonation with a borderline smooth feel. Alcohol becomes present as beer warms and almost overpowers the honey finish.

A nice beer to have but not one to rush out for. I do look forward at the chance to try more from this brewer.

Great beer - just experienced it for the first time while visiting Montreal. Neither too light nor too heavy. Great aroma - wonderful hops. No bitter after-taste. Wonderful body and appearance. Flavorful smell. I just need to know where I can purchase this awesome brew outside of Canada.

Undated bottle, purchased in Quebec City in July 2010.

Popped the bottle and had to quickly pour it - gusher! Nevertheless the beer had little head and it didn't last. Clear & brown... That's the thing to be said of the appearance. Aroma is dominated by a sweet caramel, with notes of earthiness and roasted grains. Residual sweetness is nice, paired with a strong effervesence the beer initially seems crisp. Some toasted bitterness bites back a bit. I am enjoying this, as this beer is overcoming my initial trepidation! Carbonation is a bit too prickly, and the sweetness makes it tough to be more than a sipper, but it turned out nice...

Tasted on April 6th, 2009.

A: Dark brown color with a nice head. Almost black.
S: Malts of average intensity. No honey in the smell.
T: Malts again, a little roasted. Again, I would have expected a honey taste but I get none. Some bitterness in the aftertaste making the finish dry.
M: The beer feels round in the mouth probably due to the presence of honey. Very good feeling in the mouth.
D: Easy to drink since nothing extreme from the beer. Just like most of this brewery beers. Moreover, the 6.5% ABV doesn't show... could be a dangerous beer! :)

I would pick this beer up again. A decent session beer that I will revisit for sure.

A- Pours a good head that dissappears too quickly. Nice dark brown colour with red highlights.

S- Roasted flavour and sweetness (touch of honey).

T- Like the smell. Roasted, sweet (but not too much by my tastes), some caramel flavour. There is some complexity to the flavour, but the balance could be a bit improved.

MF- Ordinary, nothing great, nothing bad.

D- OK. Slightly better than average for being easy to drink while having some flavour.

Served in a US tumbler. Taste of burnt caramel, spices coriander and grain. Carbonisation is good for a english brown ale. Alcohol is well cloaked and not overwhelming. I enjoyed this brew.

It won the Publics Choice Award @ Mondial de la Bière 2001, Montreal.

Bottle – Poured a brownish brew with almost no head. Carbonation is weak and body is average. Aroma of malts is very standard to other honey products. Taste is sweet with just the right mix of malts and subtle honey aftertaste. Overall, this is an average honey beer but again I don’t think that anything from this brewery will ever really satisfy me.
