Impressive IPA. Poured (sadly) in a weizen glass, still managed to get a good balance between taste and aroma.

Nice appearance, coppery and clear; lightly carbonated.

Aroma is somewhat floral, taste is thick and the hops really present. I don't know which variety was (or were) used, but it's a really good choice. One of the best IPA to my taste.

Alcohol is not at all dominant, despite semi high percentage, if served at the right temperature (guessing around 6-8°), and probably even less if served in a pint.

Weirdly, a good IPA for introducing craft beer fans to IPAs.

Consumed Nov. 19, 2011 at Inaugural Bottle Share. From notes, thanks Nicole!

A: Copper with a pale head and great lacing. Not much more to ask for here.
S: Light citrus hops and a sweet booze.
T: Biscuit malts, chlorophyl, earthy hops and a warming booze. Not enough hops I might add.
M: Boozy, with a thick sticky nature to it.
O: Something just seems off about this beer, it has an almost resinous quality that is off-putting. Certainly not worth the $10 price tag I saw on this bottle.

1 litre swing top bottle purchased in Quebec about a month ago. Bottle dating seemed to say brewed in January 2010??? What??? It couldn't be that old, could it?

Poured in to Duvel tulip.

A - Medium amber colour; cloudy. One finger of bubbly white head that receded leaving good lacing behind.

S - Sweet caramel up front, a slight hop bitterness is present as well, but is certainly not reminiscent of a DIPA. Some floral and herbal notes are present as well.

T - Sweet caramel malts dominate with a light hop bitterness and some floral and earthy ntoes. A very weak hop profile for a DIPA. 8.5% ABV doesn't translate to the palate either. A decent tasting beer, but not a DIPA.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation.

I'm not sure I like the looks of this beer. It pours a murky amber colour with a brownish head that dissipates quickly to leave what looks like a flat beer.

The smell, mind you, is something else entirely. It oozes both hops and malt so much that you can only just barely make out the spice within. That's not to say it isn't good. This may be the first DIPA I've had in a while that really shows off its hops like this.

Wow. That is one hell of a bitter taste. This is a VERY good example of the style in every respect. The tip of my tongue detects all sorts of bready malts and only a slight sweetness. Mid way through I know I'm in for hop overload, which is exactly what a DIPA should be like. IPA Impériale is intense in its bitterness, but there's still room for a little complexity as well with whatever spices you can make out.

The mouthfeel is about average. Nothing amazing to report here. Overall, the only format I've seen this in (750ml) is quite expensive so I won't be buying this again when so many other amazing beers are available in the area. What I will do is recommend trying this beer at least once if you're into the style.

Really liked their IPA so I had to try this one. Noticed it a few times in the store but thought it was the IPA. Packaging is great but too damn similar.

A- Going from gold to amber to mahogany. Very light-beige head that faded in about 4 minutes. Thin layer of lacing coats the glass pretty evenly. Lots of small carbonation bubbles. Looks good.

S- Woody and salty. Strawberry candy. Kind of smells like fruity Play-Doh.

T- Layers of woody then grassy hops over a flow of salty sweet strawberry. Still tasting the play-doh in this. I even got a little chocolate once it was pretty warm.

M- The pour really seems to affect the amount of carbonation you'll detect. I'd say it's generally low but borderline appropriate (a bit more wouldn't hurt). Medium mouthfeel. Dry finish with some residual sugars still ''mucus-ing'' the back of the throat (gross I know, sorry). Not sticky or syrupy enough for the style in my opinion.

D- Very good. Very, almost silky, smooth. Taste is interesting enough. This 1l growler won't be a problem. I've had half of it now and am trying to convince myself to keep some to share with a friend later in the night during the Canadiens game.

Yeah well this didn't blow me away. It is good, but I was expecting more especially considering how much I liked their IPA. Always happy to find another Quebec Imperial IPA.

Recommended by the manager of Broue Ha Ha in Gatineau QC.

This beer pours a beautiful deep mahogany colour. The white head is a finger width deep and leaves plenty of lace down the side of the glass. Unfortunately it doesn't stick around that long; settling to a fairly skimpy ring around the glass.

The smell is light - sweet perfumey with hints of berries. Fairly mild for an IIPA. The taste starts with sweet caramel malts and transitions to a semi bitter finish. Fruity esters add a degree of complexity and the alcohol is a amazingly well hidden. I know some will complain that for an IIPA the volume is low.. especially the hops.. but I still find enjoyment in this beer's taste. There's good balance here and who says that all IIPA's need to be completely unbalanced hop monsters?

Mouthfeel is nice and drinkability shines through. Because of it's lighter flavour its easy to forget it's alcoholic strength and try drinking it like a regular IPA.

Pours with a fluffy off white head, great lacing but lacking in retention. Has a deep copper color.

The smell does not remind me of an IPA let alone an Imperial IPA. Very little hops, more caramel and toffee malts than anything, fruits and a little metallic.

The bitterness is a little more apparent on the tongue, grassy/floral hops, sweet caramel malts and fruits. I was disappointed with both beers I tried from the Microbrasserie Du Lievre.

Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of floral and medium bitter hops is quite interesting surprisingly. Taste is dominated by some floral hops with a medium bitter ending. The malt bill used in here was well balance with hops. Body is quite full with some great carbonation. Probably not as hoppy as an imperial IPA should be but nonetheless an interesting beer from a so-so brewer.

On-tap at Saint-Bock. peachy body with a little crown head. Yeast and grapefruit in aroma. Strong bitterness malted down. Medium mouthfeel. Average carbonation, served just a bit cold appropriately.Piney and a bit of toastiness. I take it this is a beer to be consumed live and not in the bottle.
Had it again at Les Brasseurs du Temps two years later,at correct temperature, and the reputation persists that thier beers are to be had on tap. Lacey, yeasty, drinkable DIPA,good appearance and balance, like a good 1.3 IPA.
