Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a lightly hazy, medium coppery amber with a two finger white head; looks nice. Aroma of biscuit malt, unidentifiable hops, graham cracker, mild citrus and mixed fruit. Flavor is biscuit malt, lightly grassy and fruity hops, mint, berries, lemon; malty. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Like previous year's fresh hop alt, this has a quite malty body that is reminiscent of a robust English bitter, but with a little more hop bitterness. Lots of malt depth. The fresh hop character is somewhat subdued, but this experimental hop has some interesting mint and fruit notes. I've now had several fresh hops this year that have a more English than American pale ale malt and I think I enjoy these a little more. The hops seem somewhat subdued, but interesting, off-beat flavors. An enjoyable fresh hop. Perhaps not for those seeking a "crisp", low malt ale. Nice can graphics.
