New beginnings require previous actions. In the past few years, since we started brewing Equinox the hop has had an official name change. Now called Ekuanot, we thought it would be appropriate (and confusing in a classic Kent Falls way) to take the same hop and apply it in a new manner. The green pepper and tropical fruit character of Ekuanot brings a complexity to the dry lemony base beer for a remarkably refreshing and contemplative beer.

Bottle was an absolute gusher, which at least led me to pour extremely delicately. The end result was a good looking, golden yellow beer with excellent clarity and plenty of lively, white head with outstanding retention.
Aroma can best be described as tropical. Clear notes of lemon, with a melange of fruit notes that I can't identify individually, but that work well together. Little bit of earthy funk rounds out the nose.
Lemon shows up on the tongue, but more discreetly than the nose. The miscellaneous tropical notes take a little more of a back seat. Interesting earthy zing to the beer. It has a little bit of bite, but more in the tart sense than the hoppy. Crisp, lively and refreshing.
Overall, an enjoyable beer to enjoy on a beautiful summer day.

A: The beer is slightly hazy pale yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that died down a bit but consistently left a short head covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of sourness and peppers are present in the nose. As the beer warms up, the peppers subside and are replaced with tropical fruits.
T: The taste is a little sour and has flavors of bell peppers and tropical fruits from the Ekuanot hops.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation and a faint amount of tartness.
O: I really enjoyed the balanced flavors of peppers and tropical fruits in the taste of this beer. It wasn’t overly sour.
