Batch #2
Bottled 03/2020
500ml
No packaging issues. Proper carbonation, negligible sediment, no signs of oxidation.
Aroma: Very high toned at first but not in a sneeze inducing way. passionfruit sorbet, grapefruit peel. As it warms, mid notes of tropical funk appear. Think guava candy thats been in the sun. This accompanies a little bit of dank, but cool barnyard, with the Brett being more hay/tropical fruit than spicy, and the dankness probably coming from Strata dry hop. Engaging but not mesmerizing.
Palate: As usual KF culture is a pleasure to drink! Acidity doubles down on the grapefruit and passionfruit, and never gets into the green apple or lemon curd family. Texture is moderate but clean and consistent as it warms, minerality slickness is a minor actor. Acid attacks, but never ventures into the retro nasal, with Brett/barrel/hop pricklyness driving the finish.
Impressions: Super dope. KF needs to be in the HF conversation, at the very least when it comes to hopped farmhouse ales. Truly a special brewery with a transcendent philosophy of beer and agriculture. This beer will mature gracefully with KF tropical driven Brett and be a showstopper in another 9months.
Reminder: It's definitely a "Farmhouse Ale" and not an "American Pale Ale"
