Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. Beer was purchased today at the local shop and was canned 10 / 27/2024. Yikes, I read the stamp wrong. there is a "peaks by" date. which is 6/7/2025. oops. Oh well , should still be fine.
The beer pours a clear copper color with a fluffy khaki colored head of almost 3 cm foaming up on the pour. This foam slowly fades to sturdy surface covering and leaves scattered lattice when I swirl the glass or take a sip.
Aroma on this beer is toasted wheat bread, some mild caramel and spicy rye notes. I think I get a little grassy hop , but the rye is front and center. No hint of the ABV on the nose.
First sip reveals a medium body with fine gentle carbonation that rolls across my palate. Texture is smooth and this beer drinks very easy.
Flavor is toasted dark bread and some spicy rye notes, edging to black pepper on the finish. Dries out significantly after the swallow. Never any booziness on this beer and my glass is getting empty very quickly. I dont know if this was better when it was fresh, but I do know I am enjoying the beer right now as it is. Glad I purchased this one.
