Copenhagen 21/9 2018. 33 cl bottle from Brønshøj Vin & Spiritus. Drawing of demented looking Monkey in Kings outfit waving a Scepter on the label.
Pours slightly hazy orange with chunks of yeast whirling around and medium-sized, dense, white head. Settles as frothy white layer of foam clinging to the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is intense, fruity and boozy. Exotic fruit in an advanced state of fermentation and decay. Sour, citric notes. Strong odor of alcohol.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, lightly prickly texture.
Flavor is fairly sweet followed by strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and quite boozy. Lingering.
Intense DIPA very much on the boozy side.

Brew Age "Affen König"
,33L brown glass bottle coded best before "17.04.18 09:08".
€5,90 @ Zum Fidelen Affen on 23 September 2017.
Notes: Brewed with Pilsner and Caramalts, and Amarillo, Citra, Columbus, Galaxy hops. 8.2% ABV and 70 IBUs. Cloudy amber-orange colored body beneath a full head of fluffy white foam. The aroma displays notes of pineapple, orange, grapefruit, passion fruit, and grainy malt. The flavor follows with even more grapefruit, some red berries, a sweet malt that's biscuity and just lightly caramelish, and some alcoholic heat. The bitterness is firm at 70 IBUs, and it's nicely balanced with a dry, lingering finish. It's medium-full in body and crisp. This is quite a nice Imperial IPA. They've got the malt right but I think it needs more hops. Of course, I always think Imperial IPAs need more hops!

Pours a dark orange to light brown color with a stable, bigger head.
Smells of glazed caramels, ripe oranges and a lighter note of pineapples. While the malts are quite pronounced on the nose, the hops manage to create a nice, fruit driven complexity.
Tastes of a toothscraping hop bitterness, featuring lemon peel and oranges among well pronounced caramel malts. Turns way sweeter then, with the malts almost overpowering the hops, focussing on caramel and biscuits. Finishes with more, late hops, turning into a very dry, herbal direction, getting accompanied by the malts very well, which add a nice caramel edge.
Very old-school, a little too sweet as this relies too heavily on the malts, with a nice interplay, once the hops manage to take over.

Pours a dark orange, coppery coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of tropical and citrus fruit: passion fruit, papaya and grapefruit, with a hint of bubble gum. Taste follows the nose with a tropical fruit dominated flavor and some citrus fruit: passion fruit, mango, grapefruit, orange peel. There's a bit of a malty presence as well, with notes of toffee and caramel. Nicely balanced, with a medium, lingering bitterness coming through in the aftertaste. There's a slight hint of bubble gum as well, but not unpleasant. Very nice tropical/citrus IIPA.

Deep honey color. Minimal head, but good full-bodied cling. Citrusy aroma. Sublime taste, encompassing grapefruit and mandarin orange. Long on the palate. Creamy. Outstanding.

Hazy orange color with beige head. Aroma has mostly sweet malt and oranges, even a slight nuttiness. Taste is also quite malty at first, just some earthy malts and orange peel. Finish has medium hop bitterness. Medium body with medium to soft carbonation. Not bad but it's quite old school, malty and earthy.

Pours a bright orange with a good head that stays more than lacing throughout. The nose is of strong hops. There is a strong fruity hops- a lot of grapefruit. There is a pleasant bitterness to it as well. Decent carbonation. Fairly decent IIPA.
