500ml bottle from brewery.

Bright copper with generous head. Substantial lacing. Dank, grassy aromas. Citrus dominates, but grass and gentle malts peak through. Medium body. Very enjoyable.

Bottle from the brewery. Served in a Bellwoods snifter.

A - A finger of white foam settles to a partial cap, collar, and specks of lace adorning the sides of the glass.
Transparent brass-hued body with a few tiny stray bubbles.

S - Dank, zesty, herbaceous hops dominate the aroma, with notes of grapefruit, melon, and cat pee. There's some sweet, doughy malt character, although it'd be tough for me to peg this as an IPA or DIPA; unsurprisingly the ABV is on the lower end of the DIPA spectrum. Perhaps a touch of alcohol spice.

T - Now this is the type of balance I like the this style, aggressive hops, a kiss of malt, and medium-high bitterness. There's perhaps a touch of astringency, but it never reaches critical levels. Hops are in the grapefruit-lemon-orange family, with some zesty notes; perhaps a hint of onion. Malt is a mix of lightly browned sugars and caramel.

M - Medium bodied, with pleasantly soft carbonation. Lingering stickiness and resinous hop oils on the palate. Some warming alcohol; seems a bit higher than 8.5% actually.

D - This reminds me of the great DIPAs that came out in 2010-11; I only get slight hints of the Mosaic component. And you know what? That's fine by me, as I'm just glad it isn't a malt bomb of a DIPA as is oft the case in Ontario. Kudos to Rainhard for a very nice brew.
