It's hop harvest time, so obviously we've been working closely with our friends at Four Star Farms to get you their best and freshest cones. 4* Teamaker is the second in a series of sour beers featuring single hop varieties picked off the bine just hours before ending up in our beer. This gets you the best, clearest taste of these guys we can get you. Expect subtle jasmine tea notes supported by tropical notes of mango and a good amount of tartness. Get it while you can, this is a once-a-year brew!

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color. It poured with a short white head that settled down, leaving a thin film of bubbles on teh surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of sourness are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of sour kettled ale.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied, tart and a little creamy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather sour and tart. It's not heavy on the palate but is interesting enough to sip.
Serving type: can

A: Pours a clear medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and faint golden yellow + apricot + burnt orange colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy foamy off-white head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light aromas of grainy + slight sour wheat malts with moderate aromas of lemon citrus + jasmine tea. Light aromas of tropical fruits (pineapple + mango) hops and hint of green apple.
T: Upfront there is a light flavor of slightly sour wheat malts + grainy malts with a hint of sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of lemon citrus, jasmine tea, and green apple. Finally there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of tropical/pineapple + tropical/mango hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades quickly leaving a lingering tartness.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of acidic prickliness.
O: Very tart but still enjoyable with nice tropical fruit hop flavors + aromas. Alcohol is well hidden.

On tap at Vermont tap house, Williston Vermont. The appearance was a nice hazy burnt orange color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head that dissipated immediately and left no lacing. The smell started off with tropical fruits sliding into a light little bit of tea. Sour green apple backs it all up in one package to round out. The taste was mainly sour with a fairly decent tart behind it. Tea definitely comes across a bit more with a relaxing Jasmine quality about. There’s a dry sour aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs good for the style and for me. Tart to sourness hits my tongue pretty nicely. Overall, I say this was a pretty good sour ale. Jasmine tea is there but just lighter in the aroma.

Vigorous pour yields a 3/4 inch head that disappears in a few minutes. Golden in color. Definite tea aroma on the nose. My first time experiencing this "Teamaker" hop variety. In this sour context it's very hard to pick out any characteristics. Again with the sourness and thin feel. Overall, good, but just good.
