Hazy golden blond color
Aroma is musty and lemony
Big mineral character in the flavor. A fruity tartness is restrained and balanced by some sweet character. Finishes medium dry. Carbonation is moderate and feels appropriate for the style.
Nice beer, not the most complex sour but pleasant drinking

Hermit Thrush Brewery "Supah Phunk #4"
Pint can, no freshness dating.
$8.04 @ Beverage Warehouse, Winooski, VT

Appearance: Slightly hazy deep-gold / amber body beneath a short lived head of white. As is quite often the case with sour beers the lacing is limited, and in this case, almost non-existant.

Aroma: Mineral, metal, acidic, citrus rind, fruity (tart apple, strawberry, pear), straw, earth, leather.

Flavor: Quite sharp and puckering upfront, but then equally as tart throughout - just not puckering anymore as you've become accustomed to it. All of the elements found in the aroma are present, but at lower levels, and it really comes off as being kind of one flavor, meaning that the different notes don't really stand out from one another - you might get some fruit on one sip, and then some straw and earth on the next, but the tartness really keeps it tightly bound.

Mouthfeel: Light-medium in body with a restrained carbonation level that leaves it about as smooth as it can be given its very low pH.

Overall: Charming. Tart and funky with some clear Brettanomyces character.

Pours a cloudy yellow-orange with some fleeting head that disappears as it arrives. Not sure what this smells like tart citrus, wet leaves on a fall afternoon... virtually no carbonation. Very interesting...a sour in a can ??? Pretty nice.
