Canned 10/6/20. “Black goose” stamped on the side of the can
It’s been a while since I’ve gone back to review anything from my final Hermit Thrush haul. I actually already drank all of the other cans in this particular four pack already without reviewing them, so I’m happy there’s still one left. Let’s get into it
Pours a cloudy pale orange with a finger of soapy off white head that fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is sharp but the black currant keeps things in check. I’m picking up on aromas of jammy blackberry, wet hay, lemon juice, biscuity malt, white pepper, wildflower honey, stone, cherry pit, and currant jam
Things take a more acidic turn in taste but I’m fine with that. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting black currant, lemon juice, grape skin, wet hay, sharp oak, cherry pit, brown sugar, biscuity malt, and light honey. The swallow brings notes of cherry pit, black currant, sharp oak, grape skin, stone, black cherry, red wine vinegar, biscuity malt, and light crabapple
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a sharp beer. Finishes a tad sticky, coating the mouth before it dries out
This is exactly the type of beer I expect from Hermit Thrush and I hav no complaints

Really great fruited sour beer. HT's beers can be a little too acidic sometimes but all of their barrel aged beers are very, very good.

Orangish, veiled, white head that sticks to the glass.
Beautiful funk smell, blackberry alike.
Medium tarness, fruity, oaky, tannins on tongue, feels kinda watery.
A great beer available in cans for a cheap price!

Pint can dated 1/31/18. Pours a clear reddish gold with a wispy fine-bubbled head. Slight woody sour aroma. Taste is moderately sour, oaky with a dash of the currants. Feel is a little foamy, sour bite. Overall this is a pretty good sour with clean tastes.

Look- pours crystal clear ruby red-red tinged brown with a lively and fizzy 2 finger head that recedes quickly to a thin layer; scant lacing
Smell- musty hay along with a sour cherry-like note that I'm guessing is the black currants (which I've never had)
Taste- funk and must up front followed quickly by sour cherry (again, I'm guessing this is the currants)
Feel- light-bodied with high carb; refreshing, but with a long sour finish
Overall- a really enjoyable sour that integrates the sour fruity notes and funky musty notes really nicely.
