Canned 1/18/18. “Bestest” stamped on the bottom of the can
This is easily the oldest beer from my first and last Hermit Thrush trip at about 6 and a half years. I’m sure this is past its peak for a 6+ year old low abv Wild Ale, but it’ll probably still be pretty good. Let’s crack it open and see what’s up
Pours a cloudy deep orange with 2 fingers of soapy light beige head that slowly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
The nose is simultaneously sharp and smooth, I dig it. I'm picking up on aromas of smooth oak, apple skin, toffee, red wine vinegar, burnt sugar, lemon zest, apricot, and wet hay
It has more punch to it in taste, nice and dry. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting apricot, white pepper, apple cider vinegar, sharp oak, brown sugar, lime zest, wet hay, toffee, and leather. The swallow brings notes of leather, smoky tobacco, apple cider vinegar, oxidized sherry, toffee, pear, lemon zest, wet hay, apricot, and light white pepper
A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a sharp and crisp beer. Finishes bone dry and refreshing
This one is better than I was expecting honestly. It might be fun to do a side by side with the 2020 Cuvée I have as well

Pint can at home with Lisa. Sweet and sour, good.
