Canned 1/26/21
Man, I just can’t stay away from their Party series lately. Ever since trying/reviewing Party Guy I knew I’d have to keep moving through them. This one is passion fruit, a fruit that can sometimes come across a bit strange in beers. Still, I’m excited to see what’s in store for me with this one
Pours an opaque brownish orange with 3 fingers off off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
Oh wow, the nose here is surprisingly funky, though it leans heavily into stone fruit despite it featuring a citrus. I’m picking up on aromas of dried apricot, plum, wet hay, leather, passion fruit, dark cherry, and a touch of vinegar
This is puckeringly tart in the taste, but interestingly it falls a bit flat after the initial tartness. Not bad, just a bit muted. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart lemon, sharp oak, passion fruit, peach, black cherry, and very light crackery malt. The swallow brings a quick flash of sour lemon and apriot before settling down to subtle flavors of bready malt, white wine, smooth oak, and peach
A medium body pairs with aggressive scrubbing carbonation resulting in a super sharp beer. Despite this, it finishes a bit sticky, though not overly so
An interesting one for sure, but despite some of the downsides I enjoyed it quite a bit
