One of a special series, this barrel-aged sour dry-hopped ale was aged in French oak barrels for 18-30 months. We hope you kids who grew up in the 90’s enjoy this one! As always, 100% wild Brattleboro yeast.

Canned 2/8/22. “Hip-hop it across” stamped on the side of the can
I picked up 4 different variants of this beer that all received the barrel treatments but had different base styles. I know this is rather old for a dry hopped beer, but I figured I’d get this one out of the way first. Let’s crack it and see if it’s still any good
Pours a cloudy brownish orange with a finger of soapy off white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
The age is definitely showing in the nose but I still dig it. I’m picking up on aromas of wet hay, brown bread, apple skin, black cherry, sharp oak, lemon zest, tobacco, red wine vinegar, light molasses, and walnut
It’s a bit more faded in taste yet it remains solid. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting black cherry, tannic red wine, apple cider vinegar, dry oak, wet hay, raisin, dark toast, and light brown sugar. The swallow brings notes of apple cider vinegar, brown bread, toffee, smoky tobacco, black cherry, lemon zest, black pepper, cherry pit, and sharp oak
A medium body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a sharp beer. Finishes quite sticky but also tart
I wasn’t expecting much here, so in that regard I wasn’t let down. I’m hoping the rest of the series is better
