Fudge, butterscotch and caramel up front, with a hint of dark fruits - blackberry jam and cherry ripe. Sweet and chocolatey.
Pours a dark, deep mahogany/black colour. A mocha head dissipates to a thin film, a bit of lacing and mild effervescense.
Starts very malty - roasted cereal, and cocoa nibs with a dry, raw chocolate flavour. A hint of hazelnut in the mid body. Finishes quite bitter, with a dry lemon zest/tonic finish. The aftertaste has the subtle hint of cherry, blueberry, and cinnamon on the finish.
Medium body, light oil, not much cream when swirled, and a hint of numbing on the tongue. Cool, refreshing and light finish. Actually a refreshing and luxurious dark beer.
A very drinkable porter with a good bit of complexity to enjoy, just could do with a more luxurious mouthfeel, and slightly more alcohol to balance the bitterness. Enjoyed canned, but with that comment in mind, it would only get better via handpump or better yet, nitro.
