32 ounce crowler, filled last Saturday at Hofbräuhaus Columbus on 9/14/19. Got a half liter of it when I was there and figured I'd get some to take home! Served in a dimpled mug, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a couple inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like bittersweet chocolate, coffee, and bready malt. For the most part I think the taste is pretty much like the aroma, but there's also the addition of some caramelly sweetness too. Not too sweet, not too bitter, just good and tasty. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's smooth and really easy to drink with a good amount of carbonation. Kinda suprised to see this there recently as it's typically their January seasonal, but I'm not complaining that they brought it back. I think it's a good Schwarzbier, certainly worth trying if you're there when it's on tap.

Pours nearly black in color with a khaki/smoke colored head. The head appears thick and lasts for quite a while.
The aroma is mild. Malty, maybe a bit bready, but very subtle.
Tastes great. Really this tastes like a simple schwarzbier. No bells and whistles... yet also nothing subpar about it to note. Very drinkable. I could drink these all day.
Mouthfeel is relatively thin, easy to drink. In my opinion, Hofbrau (especially their U.S. locations) brew beer for the masses, not beer for the craft beer enthusiast.
