Copenhagen 11/7 2024. 33 cl can from Meny, Nordens Plads, Frb. F. Black can with a delirious Skeleton making the Devil sign.

Pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. Bubbly. Settles as a thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass. No lacing.

Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet, candy-like odor with a touch of bitter coffee. Chocolate cake, lactose, brown sugar. Whisky. Coffee.

Light carbonation. Thick, oily, viscous, soft, soft, a little sticky and lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is intense with a strong sugary sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a boozy undertone. Lingering. Finish is surprisingly dry with a touch of alcohol.

Great - if you like them sweet and strong.

Nails the Irish coffee concept with additions of lactose, brown sugar and ageing in Irish whiskey barrels. The coffee must be selected to provide some particular notes, as I get a fair bit of mint and a creaminess that I don't associate with the addition of lactose alone. Maybe it's the brown sugar, but that also doesn't seem to match the profile. In any case, this is an Irish coffee in stout form, very well executed.
