A fierce and powerful creature was the Black Boar. This huge beast played a massive role in shaping ancient Irish history. Famously the Black Boar killed, and was killed by Diarmuid the warrior while he answered the challenge of his archrival Fionn Mac Cumhaill, on the mountain of Ben Bulben in County Sligo.
The Black Boar has come to represent resilience. Fitting then that The White Hag's black, silky Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Oatmeal Stout should carry the name of one of ancient Ireland’s most notorious icons.
Tasting Notes:
An intensely flavoured, barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. Roasty and bittersweet, with a noticeable alcohol presence. Sweet vanilla and oak flavours derived from Heaven Hills Whiskey Barrels meld with roasted coffee and dark chocolate notes to create a full-bodied, velvety, luscious texture.
The ideal drinking temperature of this barrel aged beauty is between 6-12°C.
Ingredients:
Water, Barley, Dark Brown Sugar, Flaked Oats, Hops & Yeast

Frederiksberg 10/1 2024. 40 cl from tap at Tap 21, H. C. Ørstedsvej, Frb. C.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small light beige head. Stable. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet odor of roasted dark malts mingling with sharp alcohol. Caramel, toffee and a light touch of brown sugar. Vanilla. Whisky and wood.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a sharp edge of alcohol. Lingering. Finish is semi-dry with a distinct presence of alcohol.
The good, old, black Irish boar clearly enjoyed a visit in the whisky barrel!
