This unassuming beer was surprisingly intense...in a good way. Pours nearly pitch black with little head to speak of. I'm okay with that because this beer is over 10% ABV, so I wouldn't expect much of a head to formulate in the first place. Smells like dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and with a hint of licorice. Flavors are more or less the same, a lot of dark, roasty malts, a hint of licorice sweetness, and a good amount of black coffee-esque bitterness that actually reminds me a little of Stone's Imperial Russian Stout. Feel is full and drying on the finish from the bitterness. Definitely recommended if you're in the area and looking for a big bold stout!
