Wow! I'm the first to review a place! That's because I added it. I'm so proud!
This is a classic and spacious classic German style beer hall. What a find! It is located by Columbia University. The crowd has a lot of college aged kids, however, with a good balance of young and old. The atmosphere is not rowdy and pretty low key. This place is a brewpub; they have their own brewery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I went out with some friends (boys night out) who are like myself beer enthusiasts and some, also like myself, fellow home brewers. I had an excellent IPA and a red ale that was not as good. In retrospect, I should have tried a lighter style, such as the pilsner, especially after drinking that IPA. (Or I could have just stuck to IPA) We all shared a food plate that featured breads, cheeses and cold cuts. The food plate was delicious and complemented the beer perfectly. The place was busy even for a weeknight, yet the staff was attentive and friendly. They let you have a taste. If you live on the Upper West Side of NY and are a beer enthusiast, this place is a must.
