Pours out black with a thin dark caramel head that goes away quickly. Has a roasted malt smell with a hint of nut. Strong roasted coffee and grain taste.

I got a couple cans of this beer from a mixed 12pck that I bought at a grocery store in Delton, Michigan. It poured a clear dark amber with off white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had fresh mix of malt, roast, and grain. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bright semi sweet caramel malt base with grain and roast presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Pours true to its name, a black beast of a beer. Generous foamy cap releases an aroma that’s part piney sap and part roasty press pot. The sip follows, with a smoother landing than the flavor profile implies.
