I can see this place getting packed to the rafters! Decent beers and decent selection on tap. I did enjoy the free popcorn and the arsenal of games they had. Didn’t try any food but the two plates next to me both looked delicious. I prefer gunwhale across the street.

I like to visit local breweries whenever I come home to Orange County, and I have had Barley Forge on my radar for some time. As expected, it fit the bill, a welcoming venue complete with terrific beer.

Usually I go with a sampler flight, which was the case here, picking my favorite out of the five being "Future Tripping", a reasonable DIPA which stood out from the competitor, an IPA, seated next to it on the flight platter.

Looking for something a bit more complex, I ordered a full pour of the aforementioned "Future Tripping" with Habanero added to the mix. My takeaway was that this was the best of the lot I had during the course of the afternoon, and in fact, could still taste it on my pallet on the ride home.

Overall, high marks for Barley Forge, a welcomed addition to the Craft Beer scene here in Orange County. Upon my return to Hong Kong where I currently live, I grabbed a 12-ounce to take with me to share overseas, highlighting it as something from where I live, sharing it with others in Asia who are interested in the revolution taking place in craft breweries across the world.

Glad I had the opportunity to visit this fine establishment and look forward to the direction the continue to take going forward, when we all need something to take our minds off of this unfortunate reality...

Barley Forge is a pretty cool spot. I was killing time before heading over to the airport (John Wayne is 5 minutes away), and I stopped here. They have 8 taps plus a guest cider; the beer I had was good (the Dortmunder lager). I was surprised how full the place was; there was a line to order food & beer, although there were free seats at the bar. The vibe is a bit on the industrial side, but the build-out is new-looking and welcoming; service was good as well.

Barley Forge was located in an industrial-like area a short drive from the South Coast Plaza and the Arts area. As you enter there are lots of various seating area for patrons. You can also see their brewing and production area. I personally like to see those, and so this was very cool. This place had a nice vibe. The server was nice, friendly, and the service fast.

The time I visited they were about to set up a live band. And, this is place was pretty crowded which is usually a good indicator as to quality.

I had a flight of four beers. They were good beers. Although I didn't have anything to eat, they do offer food here. Nice place to meet up with friends and hang out.

Located in a light industrial area of Costa Mesa with very limited parking. There isn’t a lot of signage up and it’s located in a building set back from the street. Inside the tasting area is fairly extensive with lots of seating. There are about 8-10 in house beers on tap and one guest tap. There’s a solid selection of various beers and their coconut rye stout (easily their best beer) was on-tap with a couple of different iterations (i.e., barrel-aged, nitro, etc). Food is available, but did not partake.

Good local hangout. Other reviewers have pretty much nailed it. Beers are good, but, nothing that's outstanding. The food is great, the grilled cheese sandwich is my favorite, and get it every time. Of course, it is walking distance to The CAMP, so you can always head over for great food options there.

Staff are friendly, and knowledgable. It can get busy, but, the wait is never too long for a pint. Overall, a cool place to hang out for a few decent brews with friends.

Fun place. Friendly crowd and servers. Live swing/jazz band in the corner of the brewery. Solid beers with a range from lagers, IPAs, DIPA, couple solid stouts and a sour.

Definitely worth an hour or two if you're in Orange County.

The place is a smaller tasting room. Usually pretty crowded, but the vibe is nice. A good mix of beersnobs and n00bies. Great bartenders and great beer. The decor is super cool and is a great place to drink some beers.

Costa Mesa's first production brewery rests smack between CA-73, CA-55, and I-405, deep in an industrial complex which is located across the street from The CAMP. A small sign off the street is the key to finding Barley Forge, and once you find it, there's adequate parking and plenty of space inside the brewery to walk around and sufficient chairs and tables to drink and eat at.

Not only a good mood around the place on an early Tuesday evening, but a good selection of quality beers to choose. 9 beers pouring from tap, which include the obligatory IPA and amber ale (albeit with agave), plus less common found styles like Berliner Weiss, dortmunder, and winter warmer. I tried three of the beers as full pours ($6 for most), all three offering a more than satisfying experience from tall stange glassware (goblets are utilized as well).

For bonus point Barley Forge was well staffed at the bar, which meant no long waits, and it has a small kitchen which serves food. Try the grilled cheese sandwich, it's good!

Barley Forge is another excuse which I can use to dismiss rush hour traffic on weekdays, and a good excuse at that. I'll be back!

Awesome new local brewery that has already got some great beers and cool food options. Just need to expand their menu and make more beers to be the go to place for local craft beer and food!!

Came on a Tuesday night. Lots of people, seems like people are attracted by the buzz this place is generating and its convenient location.
The interior is aesthetically-pleasing. There is a gallery/museum feel design with its divisions, spacing and artworks.
The beers are generally above-average, but won't "wow" you. I had three full pints here, the vanilla porter was quite tasty others are at least quaffable. The served food here too which is atypical for the breweries around this area. Did not try the food as being too bloated.
Pretty kool place overall.
