Kind of a weird location, stand alone on a street with lots of little shopping centers. Parking no problem. Inside is decorated nicely, beachy vibe and pastels. Good service, average selection of taps, average quality.

Pleasure House is a charming brewery / tasting room in what was obviously a former restaurant on Shore Drive. It's not far from Commonwealth Brewing Co. and probably walkable to the Lynnhaven Pub. It looks decent enough inside, especially for a shore-type place. More importantly, the service is good. I hate going to brewery tasting rooms where I have to wait to get a beer (unless they're very busy) because they've got nothing else to do ~ there's no food! but that's not the case here. And speaking of food, if you want to you can bring food in or order for delivery while you're there. There are 11 taps, and a cooler with some beers ready to go. They keep a good mix available, although I don't recall seeing a hefeweizen, but there's plenty to choose from. My wife isn't fond of hoppy beers but she found a sour and a Belgian-style that she liked. And the beers are good! I was impressed. On a scale of 1 to 5 I'd probably put them at 3.95 or 4. I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised, and I'd certainly recommend it.

One of maybe 4 businesses in a strip mall sort of place. Maybe a 12 seater bar, high tops and regular tables. Maybe 10 folks there when I went in. Service very prompt and courteous. I had a flight and then tried their ESB both on nitro and draft. Odd they didnt have an IPA going in this day and age but I do not have an issue with that-dare to be different. That being said the beers were a bit "different"...not sure what I thought but after getting 2 crowlers to go and reflecting on my visit I decided they were all decent enough. I especially liked the bock with juniper and the ESB. One thing I liked is they had all their beers ready to go in crowlers so you didnt have to wait. Thought there might be a freshness issue but both of what I got was fine. Went back the next day for a pint glass for a guy from work the bartender recognized me the minute I walked in. Worth a stop for sure.

Pleasure house is an awesome place to stop by in the afternoon for a quick beer or to bring a big group of friends. The brewery is always very clean and they have a large space full of tables. There is a corner full of different board games as well as darts and a giant connect four board on the back wall.
Tim and Kevin are always very helpful and they are fun to chat with while you enjoy your beer.
Pleasure house is always coming out with new beers, they have a rotationing 5 draft selection along with smaller batch "fleeting pleasures" that are fun to try.
You can try many different styles, so even the novice beer drinker will find something to enjoy. They offer flights for $8 as well as full and half pints.
Several restaurants will deliver to the brewery or you can bring something in to enjoy. On Sunday night they have a charity crockpot night where a donation allows you to sample the many dishes people have volunteered to bring.
Many nights have been spent starting at pleasure house and then making the short walk down to lynnhaven pub. Cheers!

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. The place was clean, there was plenty of seating, the bar area was well kept, and the general vibe was laid-back. There were board games, darts, etc. for those interested, as well as TVs at the bar. I can say my girlfriend and I had a nice time hanging for while and felt welcomed and comfortable.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Great customer service, and everyone I encountered was eager to talk about the beer and the brewery itself.
I feel a bit bad because I did short reviews of two of the beers I had that were listed here at BA. And in all honesty, they were the least impressive I had of the seven I sampled. A couple of the beers I really enjoyed (Belgian Blond and ESB) were not listed; these were beers I would have easily purchased (we forgot our growlers). Yes, I could have added them but I was busy enjoying the good company I was keeping. The two that I found "least impressive" were not necessarily bad, but didn't resonate with either style or there was something off with the carbonation and/or yeast. (And to be clear, none of the beers tasted "dirty" or ill-constructed overall, just some noted, small flaws.)
I hope they find their grove because the beer was good and the taproom is really nice. Wishing these guys the best.

Went on opening day and there are plenty of pros and only two "cons" so perhaps a higher rating is in order but I'll explain.
Newest brewery on the Va Beach/Hampton Roads brewery scene and has nice sized tap room, plenty of board games, the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff of any of the local breweries in regards to their beer/beer in general, local art work to view and purchase (this is a really unique feature that really lends itself to the community vibe these guys are going for), two tvs so if you want to catch a game...you get the point, really chill place to hang out.
Perhaps the cons are they only have five taps and it's their beer so your selection is limited and the location, while on the cusp of the touristy part of Shore Dr is easy to get to and not out of the way, is in a strip mall which I can foresee leading to parking being a problem as soon as this place gets crowded.
Those aren't really criticisms as much as it'd be nice to have a plethora of parking spaces and more tap choices (lack of outdoor seating and probably no food trucks does not bother me but if you're into those two things then I guess that's a third "con").
In summation, a very different atmosphere from the Norfolk brewery taprooms and even a little different feel than the other VA Beach taprooms and I think a must hit for any local beer geek/brewery geek.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the place's attributes plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
