On tap at Steuben Brewing Company in Hammondsport, NY.
This one pours a very dark brown color, with a few black shades in there, and a big head and lots of lacing.
The aroma is spot on schwarzbier - with toasted pumpernickel bread, earthy hops, licorice, and chocolate.
This is yet another example of the attention to detail that Steuben clearly possesses. This is basically spot on as far as schwarzbiers go, with the rich chocolate and bready notes that I always want, and just a hint of hop bitterness, and bit of seedy licorice like bitterness, too.
This is medium bodied, fairly creamy, with a great level of drinkability. Tossing back multiple mugs of this would be literally no problem.
Steuben is instantly one of the more exciting newer breweries for me - this is truly a wonderful dark lager.
