On tap at Swillburger/The Playhouse in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
The pour came back from the taps fairly cold, and there was some bitterness and soy sauce flavors that were kind of unpleasant. After letting the pour warm up a bit, that faded, and earthy and bittersweet maple came to the forefront, dark and rich, with roasted malt, smoke, a sort of herbal character, and dark chocolate.
This is not super thick, but it's definitely not thin, with very little booziness and nice creaminess in the middle.
I wasn't sure how Steuben would handle this one, as lagers and IPAs are, for the most part, their wheelhouse. It was a little unpleasant really cold off the tap, but as it warmed, it developed into a very delicious stout.
