Growler from Steuben Brewing in Hammondsport, NY.
This one pours a dark brown color, with a small white head, and not much lacing.
This definitely smells like Jack Daniel's - with that sort of cinnamon licorice and cheap whiskey, along with vanilla, dark chocolate, and sweet breadiness.
The barrel kind of thins out the very good base brown ale here. You still get that good base - with all the chocolate, caramel, and nice breadiness, but that cheap whiskey flavor just thins and boozes out the finish. I wanted this to be better, but it's not a bad beer by any means.
This is medium bodied - starts creamy, but then finishes kind of thin and wispy. It gets boozier as it warms up.
Next time I'll just stick to the base here. This was still very much worth a try, though.
