A Coffee porter with vanilla beans - think a little Victory at Sea!
L- Poured into a curved pint glass from the tap on nitro. Deep black body. Two inches of frothy foam head, with tons of lacing down the glass as I drink.
S- Roasted/burnt malted barley, coffee, sweet chocolate.
T- This is a big porter with nice bitter burnt malt, subtle coffee notes (which is refreshing because often coffee can be overpowering) chocolate milk, sweet and creamy. Extremely good!
F- On nitro this is so satisfying and plays with the flavor so well. Velvety smooth, slightly chewy-thick and robust. Leaving a play of both sweet and then bitter on my tongue perfectly. I think the nitro is the primary component on why this beer rated so high on feel (and maybe taste too).
O- This is a smoother, lighter version of Ballast Point Victory at Sea. While not quite as good, it fulfills a different purpose which is an incredibly drinkable treat in the same vein of its bigger more flavorful cousin. Favorite beer from these guys so far!
