Millions of people have been asking themselves this question since ancient times. Some folks come to conclusions, however, many do not. Whether we're conscious of it or not, we're all looking to define our purpose in this absurd universe.

For a beer called What's The Point?, the brewing process was actually quite involved. It's an ode to one of our low-key favorite beers of all time, Taras Boulba, a Belgian-style session ale rarely found stateside (Hint: you may be able to find some at our brewery now, but you must act fast).

Like Taras Boulba, What's the Point is a heavily noble-hopped beer with an expressive Belgian yeast strain. Hopping in the kettle with German Saaz & German Tettnanger lends sharp, verdant waves of citrus and resinous hop character. Fermentation with our house Belgian saison culture imparts a bone-dry finish, and finally, a light dry hop with a fruit-forward French hop (Aramis) yields a delicate, floral and sweet character.

Decant this beer into a glass to enjoy the natural tiny bubbles resulting from can conditioning. As the beer releases carbonation and settles out over time, it unveils special aromas of spring flowers, mixed berries, fresh cut grass and hay.

Hazy, yellow color. Big, white head. Fruits, Belgian yeasts, and hay in the aroma. Taste follows. Pleasant hoppy bitterness in the semidry finish. Liked it.

Because sometimes there's a need for characterful, sessionable and hoppy taste with a refreshingly crisp character. And, that's the point.

But Three's pays tribute to De la Senne's Taras Boulba with What's The Point- a bubbly and lively ale that settles quickly with a light and hazy burnish chrome appearance and a frothy white cap. As a complex array of aromas span a plethora of citrus, tropical, melon, berry and vinous fruits, the initial taste is brisk with wafer, honeysuckle and light cookie dough sweetness.

Even with the session being light, the boldness of fruit first leads with a lemony, grapefruit-like and pineapple hop character along with a gentle ester profile of pear, gooseberry, apple and honeydew. As a balance of bitterness and spice arises, the fruit and fledgling sweetness is met with the lightness of white pepper, white wine, herbal grasses and lemongrass as the session folds.

Light, crisp and quite refreshing, the beer balances Belgian pale ale with more session pale ales of the American style for a pleasant, just mild taste with low levels of bitterness and tannic bite.

Pale in color with a clingy white head. Nose is yeasty and malty. Taste is sort of sour and sort of hoppy bitterness. Very typical of a belgian style beers. Smooth drinker laves a bit of a juicy fruit after taste.

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high frothy bright white head that died down and left a narrow collar around the edge, a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface, and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of Belgian yeast are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of floral and spicy hops along with Belgian yeast.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This pale ale is very easy to drink and has nice aromas and flavors of noble hops and Belgian yeast that aren't overpowering.
