12 ounce can poured into a snifter. 6/1/16 can.
A- Not beautiful looking to me. Hazy pale straw color. Actually cloudy. Maybe a tad murky. Pale white wispy head. 4.25
S- Lovely aroma though. Sweet mango and pineapple. A distinct mineral quality. Pilsner-like malt. The light malt with its biscuity allows the tropical flavors to pop. 4.5
T- Interesting. Not nearly as mango and pineapple heavy, though those fruits are there. They're just more biter and unripened. Again, I get a minerally flavor, floral yeast, and a light, bready, crackery malt. 4.25
M- The bitterness is surprisingly aggressive here. Light and easy-drinking feel otherwise. Fruity, a touch sweet. 4.25
Threes does some killer brews and this qualifies. Not flawless but pretty damn good.

Picked this up along with the Vliet two Friday's ago, as part of Threes first can release. I love my IPA's and know that they're everywhere but this one wasn't quite like most others that I've had. The taste was more subtle and refined with an extremely well-hidden alcoholic presence. Combine that with a more balanced hop-to-malt profile and the result is an American IPA along the lines of what SingleCut, Treehouse, and Trillium are currently brewing!
Boy, what a murky pour to this as the cloudy, apricot hue had a subtle glow all unto itself. That went along with the massive head, rings of soapy lacing, and slight sentiment on the bottom of my pint glass. Lots of booze, melon, and lemon zest in the understated nose with the tropical notes coming out more in the taste. That was accompanied by yeast, a sugary sweetness, and some citrus rind that gave this beer a sharp kick once the initial smoothness kicked in. A faint, spruce-line pine was present in the aftertaste and there was a good amount of carbonation here to ensure that nothing lingered too long. Nice body to this as well as there was a hint of the Vliet in here, when it came to the Pilsener Malt.
Strong enough but nowhere near potent, this is the amount of alcohol that a good Pale Ale should have. On par with the other great IPA's coming out of the Mid-Atlantic and New England, this will put Threes on the map with Finback and Grimm when it comes to rising Big Apple breweries. Lots going on here but this never felt complicated or overrun with citrus and juice as is the case with so many other newer IPA's. A mellow take on the style that's sure to please lovers of Pale Ales!

I found this to be nicely balanced between clean grains, citric, pine, and herbal hops. Medium-soft feel, hazy body, pleasant aftertaste. Nothing too overpowering, all the elements coming together naturally. A real nice IPA.

Poured from a 12oz can into a speiglau IPA glass.
Look is an EXTREMELY hazy golden straw with a thick full head with tiny little bubble.
Aroma is intense lemon zest and pine almost opens up to a vanilla at the end.
Body and mouthfeel are light but flavor is intense. A vanilla coconut with a spicy floral citrus.
Absolutely delicious IPA. So complex. Just enjoying sipping this and discovering new hop notes in it. Really develops.

The aroma smacks of herbaceous qualities, basil and thyme, piney hop pellets, with hints of tropical fruit.
The beer explodes up front with juicy mango, orange peel, pineapple, that similar yeasty bubble gum note to Tree House, with a dry herbaceous finish.
