Galaxy Pale Ale hopped with Galaxy and Callista
Sometimes we take risks, though we know the consequences could be dire. Perhaps we will get by on good luck... or not. How do we decide when a risk is worth taking?
Tempting Fate is a Pale Ale that highlights our love of hops without relying on the intensity of an IPA. A favorite of our brewers, this beer is dedicated to showing off key elements of the Galaxy hop. We temper some of the more overpowering elements of Galaxy by using Callista hops. The addition of oats makes for an additional creamy mouthfeel.

Hazy, yellow color. Medium-sized, white head. Mango, pineapple, and malt in the aroma. The taste is on the dry side, juicy and light. Moderate, hoppy bitterness.

16oz can from the brewery’s stall on Governor’s Island, NYC. Hazy, pale orange with a thin smear of head. Next to no aroma. Tastes of juicy tangerine and orange pith. Soft mouthfeel and a dust-dry finish. A delightful, easy-drinking, low abv, summer afternoon APA.

Can from the brewery in Brooklyn. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a finger of bubbly white head, decent lacing, smell is zesty orange, lemon/lime soda, candied/caramel hops, sticky mango skin and mango flesh, hints of peach cotton candy, taste is orange soda, papaya, mild grapefruit zest peak, pretty much no bitterness, hints of mango, cantaloupe, and orange blossom, feel is light to medium bodied with prickly carbonation. A tropical citrusy crusher.

A: The beer is very hazy whitish yellow in color. It poured with a half finger high white head that died down, consistently leaving a thick layer of bubbles covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of blackberries and floral hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has fruity flavors of blackberries along with notes of floral hops and hints of pine.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and somewhat juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I thought that the use of Callista hops really made this IPA unique, particularly with their aromas and flavors of blackberries.

Enjoyed two weeks after canning, poured into a shaker pint glass. Dusty yellow in color, with nice lacing on the glass. Not a strong smell to this brew, but I get green apple and citrus tastes. Quite light, and very drinkable. Another great offering from Threes.
