Dark, brown color. Medium-sized, off-white head. Toasted malt and dark chocolate in the aroma. Pleasant hoppy/roasted bitterness in taste. A good one.

Pours cola-colored with a really sturdy beige head. This head sticks around but doesn't get in the way. The nose was very light roast. Flavor was roasty too, with hints of chocolate. Pretty mellow flavor overall. If you like your dark beer mellow, Volition will make it happen.

This was another beer that I ordered on Tavour late last year, as I hadn't had anything from Threes in ages. Used to love going there when they first opened up in Brooklyn but with so many options now, I ended up not having the time to make runs there. Thankfully, I got my hands on a can of this as it was one of the better examples of the style that I've had recently, down to it's ease of enjoyment!
No surprise that this poured a cola brown, but with less fizz, as the mocha head that topped this off had all of the bubbles. It nearly looked solid as it slowly settled with the head never fully giving way. Most of the suds that stuck around were near the top of my glass, with a bit that stayed near the level of the liquid. Roasted malt, dark bread, and coffee were in the mellow nose as the taste was a bit smoky, burnt, and lightly bitter. Balanced, slick, and slightly cloying, this wasn't light like a Lager or overly malted as it went down easily, but not mindlessly.
Packaged on 10/25 of last year, there was a lot to like as some dryness and softly burning hops stuck around in the aftertaste once I finished this off. Subtly complex for the style, this was a winner that was also a perfect session beer, for any time of the year!

16oz can from Tavour. Near black pour, cap of fine beige head. Roasty, sweet aroma, chocolate, coffee. Taste is sweet up front, light roast, mild bitterness. Creamy body.

Very dark blackish brown body with two fingers of tan foam and thick lacing. Roasted malt with a dash of wet coffee grounds, brown bread, earth and smoke in the nose. Taste is more forward with the brown bread and roasted malt together, back end thins a bit with roast, earth and cocoa. Body is thinner verging on watery, yeast complexion is short lived, malt roast light. A gateway to the style
