Dark , brown color. One- finger thick, beige head. Thick aroma of molasses, cherries, dark fruits, and port wine. Very sweet taste, a bit too much for me.

375ml bottle, 2021 release, poured into a stemless wine glass. Enjoyed on 07.28.2021, reviewed from tasting journal.
The beer has a bright burgundy color, ruby hues, dark ambers, bone colored head, no retention nor lacing. The aroma is excellent, brown sugar, figs, cherries, vanilla, hearty earthy oak, red grape, caramel, fortified port, deep and rich grain. The flavors are great as well, fig, plum, cherry, tons of rich stone fruits, cherry cordial, fortified port spirit, vanilla, oak, toffee, rich grain, brown sugar, lingering caramel. The mouthfeel is great, coating, heavy medium body, luscious, lively yet smooth with a decadent warm finish.
Verdict: A stunning barleywine from Threes. Super nuanced, crazy depth, rich, decadent, with a great layered barrel character. The port really brings out a lot from this beer, excellent.

On tap at Threes Brewing in Brooklyn, NY.
This one pours a golden dark brown color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like sticky dark fruit, figs, glaze, oak, caramel, red wine, and maple.
The port barrel really adds some nice tones to this one. There's lots of sticky dark fruit here - raisin, fig, and a sort of jammy and glaze-like fruit character. There's some caramel, like a typical barleywine, with a touch of oak, and some red wine. I also get notes of maple and toffee.
This is medium bodied, with very little booziness, and a nice drinkability. It drinks a bit like a liqueur.
Threes does pretty much everything quite well, so it's not at all surprising that they'd also do a barleywine quite well.

Pours a deep violet-brown, very much like the port it commingled with. Lightly carbonated, with a small ring of foam clinging to the glass. This is essentially port in barleywine form, with concentrated raisin, red wine tannins, honey, and wildflowers. Very aromatic and flavorful, moderately thick, and more over the top than complex, but I'm still really enjoying it.
