Clear, golden color. Big, white head. Malt, resin, and some fruits in the aroma. Hoppy taste with a malty backbone. Decent bitterness all the way through.

Holy shit, a clear IPA! 5 stars! I kid, of course. Kind of. It's definitely a welcome sight 'round here, regardless. Billed as west coast IPA and it does have some nice pine on the nose, mingling with light citrus and a little tropical fruit. Smells pretty OK; nothing crazy. Ditto with the taste. It's like an old-school west-coaster with all the aggressive edges shaved down. Grapefruit. Soft pineapple on the finish. Bitterness is in balance with the rest of the beer. Yeah, this is solid. Nothing special, but I ain't mad at it either.

The good news is that more bitter beer is back. The bad news is that they're still smooth and juicy. Threes Brewing takes lessons learned in the hazy game and applies it to their otherwise West Coast-styled IPA.
Good Bad News becomes the namesake of for their beer that pours with a hazy golden appearance. As its frothy white cap builds on the glass, so does a radiant bouquet of citrus, tropical and stone fruit with a slightly dank and herbal perfume. With a sweeter tone on the front of the tongue, a malty impression of shortbread, light caramel and toasted pastry is succinct and mildly savory.
Sweetness retreats and the hops billow as the beer washes the middle palate. A burst of citrus brings the classic tangerine and red grapefruit character while more nuanced pineapple and mango seem tropical in nature. With hints of apricot and peach in the backdrop, the beer's juicy flavors give way to a spicy bitterness that resonates with a smooth resinous taste of grassiness, pine and herb.
Medium bodied and not nearly as dry or as gripping as classic West Coast IPA, Good Bad News finishes on the bitter side of bittersweet and with a long and botanical bitterness.

Typical golden color with an off white head that leaves a nice bit of lacing. Nose it slightly piney. Taste is rather soft, especially for a West Coast IPA. Does have a little pine resin bitterness, but again ever so slightly. Decent beer.
