It's no secret that we love English beers and beers you can consume pint after pint. With Tiny Montgomery, we wanted to explore the areas of sessionability that exist within the range of English styles. We're calling it a Small Pub Ale, a name befitting of the space the beer is named for. Our take on an Ordinary Bitter, it could be considered the lighter, crispier version of an English Mild. The beer is backed by expressive pale English malts, but the balance ultimately leans towards the hops for a lighter, moderately bitter mouthfeel and snappy floral finish. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the flavor and complexity packed into this small beer.

On draught at the brewery.
L: Light haze, pale yellow/gold with a thin, short-lived head.
S: A hint of butter, otherwise not much. Should be getting malt but there’s nothing there.
T: Some sweetness, red berries, a bit of lemon zest and even melon. Definitely no English hops.
F: Oily mouthfeel and a prickle of carbonation but finishes flat and ultimately a tad thin.
O: I’m a fan of Threes Brewery but… other than the ABV, this is nothing like an English Bitter. It’s way too pale, it lacks all malt presence and bitterness, and the mouthfeel is way too thin. The hops and malt are all wrong. Even assuming this is intended to be more like an English Golden Ale than a Bitter, it’s still really disappointing. Sorry chaps. On this occasion, a thumbs down from this Brit living in NYC.

Drinking it on draft in Charlotte, NC. Real nice, session beer, nice malt and light hop aroma, needs more hop bitterness. Nice to be able to drink a low alcohol beer, wish it had much more bitterness.

On tap at Delaware Supply in Albany, NY.
This one pours a light golden amber color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells slightly floral and sweet, with a touch of dried stone fruit and grapefruit, and biscuity malt.
There’s a lot of wonderful flavor here for such a small beer. There’s a nice floral, almost tea, or lavender like hop character, with a sweet, nutty breadiness, and some very light fruity notes – like apricot or grapefruit. There’s a nice little spice and bitterness on the back end.
This is light bodied, but super drinkable and clean, with a smooth bite on the finish.
This is exactly what the style should taste like – Threes, as usual, nailed it.
