Reserve Series 2016

A Belgian-style quad quite regal in stature which was created through a one-half year maturation in five decade old American Brandy barrels. Barrels, which for five decades, silently absorbed the essences of residual sugars and prune-like character coupled with the subtleties of mellow oak tannins and rich, aged spirits. The Belgian nose finds wonderment in an American experience deftly crafted to be entirely unique.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep golden copper color which is topped by a dense and rocky finger of cream colored head which retains well and fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of sweet and sticky caramel, dark fruits, brandy, and a hint of vanilla like sweetness
T: Taste is dark fruits, caramel, toffee, and toasted bread, mulling spices, brandy, oak, and slight vanilla. Really bold and beautiful flavors on this one that are very well blended. Hints of orchard fruits and melons as well. On the swallow there's more dark fruits, caramel, mulling spice, prunes, brandy, and drying oak.
M: This beer is fairly full in body with a creamy feel on the palate. Carbonation is slightly effervescent but it is not overbearing. The beer has a drying finish which is quite nice.
O: Overall this was a really nice beer. It has some great complexity and all the flavors play really well together along with having a really nice amount of balance. Worth a try if this one comes back around.

Pours a dense, murky deep reddish amber color, minimal head. Big boozy aroma, malty. Pretty full bodied, reminds me of a double bock. Big and malty, brandy barrel flavor is very prominent and delicious. Lightly carbonated. Overall a really nice BA ale.

Amazing quad with the most perfect barrel compliments I've ever tasted in any barrel aged beer of any type..

Tastes like you took a bite of the barrel. The brandy is well present but complimented nicely by tastes of carmel, prune, and cherry. The high ABV is well hidden. Low carbination. Eautiful brown color.

Five decade-old brandy barrels are a wonderment in their own right, but at some point you get diminishing returns on oak, both in spirits and in beer. Drinking this slightly below room temperature allows the barrel character to really stand out, but the underlying quad is still a lovely ale. Plenty of cherry, plum, turbinado sugar, and cracker to go around.

Brandy definitely comes through, but it compliments the beer nicely.

This is a fantastic American quad, holds its own with the great Belgian brews. Dark copper color, fine lacing with medium carbonation, tantalizing sweet caramel nose, and a phenomenally rich and malty-sweet quad flavor with spot-on contributions from the brandy barrels. Truly impressive. Hooray for Nebraska!

Poured out a clear, burgundy color with a long-lasting, tan head of foam. It smelled of sweet, boozy brandy with some mild dried fruit flavors. Very sweet and boozy flavor. Notes of dried plum, cherry and apple.
