Great brew. On tap at pretentious beer Knoxville.
Beautiful cherry red with a pearl head. Tons of legs.
Great sweet, wine aroma with nuts and oak working in tandem with grape and cherry.
Tons of wine sweetness with dates and cherry and a slight barrel character and a bit of malt and happiness that really rounds out the beer
Smooth carbonation like a fine champagne. Such an interesting beer. Really strong too. I drank it fast and was a bit dizzy.

Nebraska loves their chardonnay barrels, and they do them well. Highly carbonated burnt orange but the head fades quickly. White wine and slight white grape aromas compliment the hibiscus, dark cherry, flowers and gentle hops. Taste is more the same, vinous and fruity, some citrus zest kicked in too before merging with the yeasty hops. Feel is smooth, bright, bubbly, and light.

a really beautiful beer, not at all perfumy on the hibiscus, but more than fully flavored by it, a strong belgian wit to saison style beer with a chardonnay barrel treatment, very impressive overall. i have liked all the beers in this large format series from these guys, innovative and well executed, havent really ever had one like this. its neon pink, creamy and cloudy, almost milky, odd looking, but with a nice tall head on it, a little less pink than the body. it smells amazing, sweet and floral, hibiscus for sure, starchy though, like rice milk or something, in the taste too. its got some tang to it, tannins and acidity from the chardonnay barrel no doubt, lots of oak, a little sweetness, an herbal lemon thyme sort of quality, and a lot of booze, cant believe this is so strong really. the flavor is awesome, all of the above with a ton of the hibiscus flower all the way through it. the yeast is strange, somewhere between a wit and a saison strain, high gravity for sure, this beer is hardly sweet, and a little funk in there with the oak, pretty complex and different. i might like it better in the 8% abv range, this is too easy drinking for what it is, and in the large format, its an easy one to get into trouble with. still, its one of the better uses of hibiscus i have seen lately (or ever), and represents another delicious and bizarre release from these guys. well worth buying if you can find it.
