On tap @ TJ’s TJ's Restaurant & Drinkery (Paoli, PA) on 8/5/11. Served in a pint glass. I couldn’t find any info on this. It must be a new take on an American Brown by Nebraska Brewing.
Pours a deep clear amber, topped with roughly a finger of eggshell-white head. This retains with a ½ finger of creamy froth, which hangs a rich cascade of lace up on the sides of the glass. The aroma had a core base to it of caramel malt and roast and some borderline juicy smelling notes of citric fruit. A floral and leafy feel hangs on the edges. You definitely get the hop presence here in the nose.
The taste has a firm citric bitterness to it up front, being in balance with the sweet malt and more crunchy roasted feeling character that is present. This finishes with a smack of fruit and residual sweetness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and crisp feeling up front before getting smoother along the back. There’s a nice even presence to this in the mouth, with a low alcohol feel.
This was a pretty darn solid take on an American Brown with no shortage of hops, yet the roast here was quite complimentary and then that was all balanced well by a healthy dose of sweetness. The hops and carbonation really gave this a flavorful crispness that kept this drinking nicely.
