2009 edition
recognizable as 7 bridges oktoberfest, but much better than last year! the nose seems fresher and toastier, the body appropriately carbonated, and most importantly the filmymess is gone or at least drastically reduced.

4 served in an attractive dimpled stein glass. head is dense and creamy, leaving a firm cap and vertical lace. color is reminscent of iced tea.
so far pretty promising.

3.5 smells malty with a dull toasty character, but as it warms a distinct fruitiness comes out. is this a lager or an ale? (a call to the brewpub afterward confirmed it's a lager)

3-3.5 the taste follows the smell but the body is much thinner than expected. carbonation is low and it almost seems to have come from a cask.

2.5 toward the end of the first glass, and bigtime with the second glass, diacetyl comes to the fore. the filmyness is disappointing to me and what seemed like a promising beer midway through the first glass has largely fallen apart (and gotten coated in margarine).

3 drinkability

according to the brewer
abv is right about 5%
is it an ale/lager: lager
reason for diacetyl sensation: not sure, lab results he said came back pretty clean, but they do an iodine rinse of the glasses that could cause a similar sensation. (and maybe it had something to do with the lunch--hazelnut maple chicken)

will have to investigate again perhaps

I attended the tapping party for this brew on 9/15/09 in Jacksonvilel Florida. The rbew exceeded my expectations. It was not the "best ever", but it was nicely balanced, drinkable, and hit the spot.

A 4.0 - clear copper in color. Excellent head & head retention.
S 4.0 - Fruity malt aromas. noticeable munich malt.
T 4.0 - taste follows smell, with a nice finish with subtle hop spice. nice and balanced.
MF 4.0 - medium carbonation and body.
D 4.5 - very nicely balanced Ofest marzen, better than expected, one of the better examples of a balanced marzens I have experienced. less malty-ness than most typical for the style, but very drinkable indeed, nice job 7B!

looks like it was better than last years feedback.
