On tap at Seven Bridges
A- pours a dark amber with a thin off white head that faded fairly quickly but left some nice looking lace.
S-wow, the bourbon is really prominent here. It overpowers everything else. I can pick up only slight hints of citrus and no malt.
T-the bourbon overpowers here as well. Strong bourbon overwhelms every other aspect of the beer. Tastes like a few shots of bourbon mixed with a few shots of ipa.
M-medium body and carbonation, a bit dry.
O-I know this is a beer that was aged in bourbon barrels and I do enjoy a good bal-aged beer. But the bourbon here was a bit much and actually detracted from the overall experience. I prefer a bal-aged beer where the beer is the star and the bourbon plays a nice complementry role. Here, the bourbon is clearly the star of the show and the beer struggles to be known.
I give the brewer credit for pushing boundaries but this one was a one is more of a mixed drink than a beer to me.

Single finger head leaves lots of nice lacing. Slighting hazy amber with brown hues body. Aroma is dominated by the whiskey booze aroma which isn't overwhelming however. Some citrus notes as well. Flavor is a little overloaded on the whiskey and booze. This is a beer flavored whiskey as oppose to the other. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Way too boozy for my taste but it does improve as u drink it.

Ole Woody is an IPA aged in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels for six months and then dry hopped generously with Cascade hops.
A really nice well done barrel aged beer by a brewpub. It was strong and had a good medium body to it. Awesome borbon smell and had a great apprearance in the glass. The bourbon did slightly overpower the IPA aspect of the beer though. The hops were hidden but you could detect a bitterness at the back end. Still a solid beer, but you need to like bourbon alot to appreciate the beer like I did. Great Job 7 Bridges and keep continuing to push the edge of mainstream brewing.
