A - Pours with a two finger, cascading head of medium brown foam that displays good retention and lace. The body is dark brown and opaque.
S - Aromas of nutty malt, light coffee, and a bit of nutty caramel.
T - Creamy caramel up front with some light mocha coffee. Nutty toffee in the middle with more roasted character in the finish along. More of an emphasis on dark malt than coffee. Lingering aftertaste of malt bitterness with some caramel and espresso.
M - Medium-thick body, low carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.
D - There is a nice roasted malt character throughout this beer that blends well with the coffee and helps to balance out the somewhat sweet finish. The beer isn't particularly heavy, but the flavors do begin to become a bit cloying by the end of the glass and I don't think I would be inclined to drink more than one. The coffee and malt work particularly well with the body created by the beer engine and make this a nice choice for the cask.
