This one pours into a snifter from the draft. Pours a golden caramel color with a small white head, minimal lacing and the head leaves at an abrupt pace. The aroma really showed the 9.5% abv and was quite alcoholic. Some noble hops in the aroma as well as some sweet malt and grassiness.
Flavor matched the aroma pretty well. Alcohol wasnt quite as noticeable but certainly there. More grassiness, malt backbone was nice. Fairly crisp but an easy sipper. Imperial Pilsner is a tough style to nail, almost like a wheatwine, and I am not a fan of the style overall. Even DFH's version was cloying, and this one was as well. A decent attempt but I doubt it wins any awards.
