Has a very dark hue with a bit of red around the edges. Faint burnt smell on the nose that is also noticeable in the taste. A solid malty character also comes through along with a hint of chocolate. Probably not completely true to style but it is still quite tasty, especially after coming in from the cold on a chilly night in Copenhagen.

Although classified as a Schwarzbier, it has quite a bit of smoke in it that was not expected. It's certainly not over the top, but it was not what I was expecting so be aware (if you ask for the english menu, it mentions the smoke, unfortunately we got the Danish menu at first). Appearance was nice black with a light head. Beer was quite easy going down once you get over the surprise of the smoke. Aroma hints of smoke with some nice roasted malt and a caramel smell. Overall quite worth trying out.
