Brewed in collaboration by seven Danish micro breweries, who brewed their own imperial stout. The beers were blended and then matured on Bordeaux casks for seven months.

375ml bottle poured into a Teku.

A~ black as night with a small head and no lacing.

S~ tons of marshmallow up front followed by some roasted dark coffee, dark chocolate, and dark fruits! that trio! haha! also a little nutty on the end, maybe walnuts?

T~ follows the nose with more sweet rather than dark fruits. finishing with a real lot of vanilla! mmm...!!

M~ smooth and a little clawing but it doesn't take away from the brew.

O~ its definitely hard to pick a favorite out of these but this one might be it! i really loved the way the marshmallow/vanilla mixed with the sweet berry like wine. another Shaun Hill brew.

Bottle courtesy of ygtbsm94. Served in a sampler glass. Pours near-black with a short tan head. The nose carries some nice wine and dark fruit notes along with light oak. Some roasted malt and a touch of chocolate. Flavor has nice wine and fruit notes along with roasted malt. Quite complex. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. Nice wine character; mellow. Impressive.

Thanks Brad, this site says that this beer is a stout but my notes made me think it was a barrel aged barleywine or something of the srots.

Beer is dark and clear with a thin tan head of small bubbles, some lacing, moderate retention.

Aroma is malty, figgy, sweet, fruity.

Beer is oaky and tannic with a nice malt backbone, no hint of roast, just grapes, raisins, figs and a nice finish with some tannic bitterness. Interesting but not great.

Shared by ygtbsm94. Thanks a lot, Brad!

Limited Release No. 1

The beer is dark brown, approaching black. The liquid appears quite viscous. Mmm. Atop the beer rests a thin, beige collar.

The aroma offers roast, dark fruit, oak, vanilla, and a delectable tannic quality.

The flavor surpasses the aroma. A terrific beer that was not even on my radar. Complex and teeming with delicious flavor. The tannic aspect is unusual, but melds beautifully into the overall flavor profile.

The feel is full bodied and viscous with low carbonation. A delightful beer to sip and savor.

I would thoroughly enjoy having this again. Recommended.

Black pour with barely a mocha head rising out.

Smokey aroma, dark chocolate, roasty sweet intense malt. Toasted oak and tobacco.

Big ashy leathery bite on the tongue. Vinous, tannic and oaky on the finish. Some slight soy saucey sweetness. Tannins with the smoke creates a mild tobacco flavor.

This is not quite as decadent as the Neipoort. It's a little edgier and less sweet. Mouthfeel isn't quite as full either.

Thanks, Alex.

Pitch black topped by a dark brown head. The head retains surprisingly well. Swirling the beer reveals syrupy legs.

Roasted, smoky, meaty maltiness. Vinous, fruity, sherry and soy sauce. Some ashy charred malt.

Vinous, roasty, charred palate. Plenty of barrel character, bittersweet cocoa, dark fruit. Medium-full in body. Slightly savory and oxidized, bitter and biting in the finish with a big vinous finish. Enjoyable stuff, a bit faded perhaps.

Chilled bottle into a glass. Thanks!

NOTE: I was informed by the brewer that this is probably past its peak. I am not commenting on his brewing skills, just the current state of this beer for those interested in trading for it.

A: Pours a pitch black body with a short-lived dark mocha head. No retention, no lace.

S: Very vinous on the nose, followed by cocoa, roast, and oak. Nice, fairly complex, but showing signs of age in its simplicity.

T: The taste suffers a bit. The bordeaux barrel imparts a tartness that borders on metallic; it doesn't meld with the base beer very well. The base flavors, as in the port version, bring roasted grain, dark chocolate, and oak to the table.

M: Full-bodied, with great flavor up front. Unfortunately, it drops off near the finish; I think this beer has been over-aged and over-mellowed.

O: I'm sure this was a beast when fresh, but it has passed its peak at this point, as the brewer's comments confirmed. I respect what it set out to do, but it is no longer an upper-tier representation of the style; I suggest skipping it.

375 ML poured into a Mikkeller Tulip

Thanks to Bluebetty for the bottle. Massive want.

A-- Poured a dark, sludgy reddish brown. Settled black with hints of ruby at the top of the beer. Slow building half finger of dark chocolate marshmallow looking head, quickly fades away to film and milk chocolate color. Film sticks around through drinking. Spotty lacing on the sides of the glass.

S-- Bordeaux right off the bat. Lots of wine like qualities in the nose. Dark coco, dark fruits, and Carmel underneath the barrel flavors. Lots going on here.

T-- Dark, bitter chocolate, dark bitter coco powder, coconut, Carmel, plumbs, and red wine.

M-- Lots of tannins in the front. Sticks to gums and to tongue. Rich, thick and coating. A little bit thin in the middle and finishes with a dry shiraz and coco powder finish.

O-- Prefer the port barrel to this. Still this is very, very good. A little slanted towards the wine at times but easy to drink and savor. Alcohol is well hidden and this is quite unique.

Bottle split with Jason and Kan.

A - Pours black, tan head, thick collar, some whisps on top.

S - Big Bordeaux notes right from the start, chocolate, caramel, oak. Very rich and delicious...like a chocolate dessert with a nice glass of wine.

T - Not quite as much of the Bordeaux transfers onto the palate, which is probably a good thing. More chocolate, oak, fruits then just the wine. Very rich and well-integrated.

M - Full, rich and smooth, silky on the palate, good carbonation.

O - Just.Simply.Outstanding. I want more, plain and simple.

Bottle courtesy of Omhper. Cheers! (Glad you enjoyed my laste bottle, Masterski!)

Apperance: Pitch black with a beige/brownish head.

Aroma: Oak, Vanilla, Ripe fruit, Chocolate. Hint of licorice?

Taste: Vanilla, Dark caramel, Milk chocolate, Hint of ripe fruit, Hint of red wine.

Palate: Velvety smooth, complex and quite filling without being cloying. Elegant and no trace of the alcohol.

I really wish Nørrebro would brew this beer again. It’s so damn tasty.

Bottle from baggio (via Nanoslug) - thanks Robert! Served in a Darkness snifter.

A - A quarter-finger of dark mocha foam that settles to a thin ring and some light haze, leaving behind tiny spots of lace. Body is a solid and impressive midnight black, and swishing the glass leaves an oily brown film behind.

S - Oak, smoke, dark fruits, candi sugar, caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla, and some light vinous notes that also suggest dark fruits and berries. Even with all the different elements it blends seamlessly in a rich and complex bouquet.

T - The taste is a little bit less complex, with char, dark fruit, a hint of soy, and roasted malts. The finish is vinous, with a note of cherry, and there's a lingering bitterness.

M - Medium-bodied, medium-low carbonation, smooth and silky, with a dry and tannic finish. The listed ABV was a bit of a surprise - this felt more like a 9% beer.

D - There's something decidedly Scandinavian about the flavor profile, and this is one of the most enjoyable Imperial Stouts I've had from that region of the world. I'd highly recommend putting in the effort to acquire this (and any of the other Nørrebro barrel-aged releases). Let's hope Shaun Hill is working on something similar in Vermont.

A hearty seven and a half thumbs up to Alex for sharing this with myself and the famous Chris aka largadeer.

A - A really nice looking beer. Approriately black, with a nice tan head that stuck around for a while with a semi-agressive pour. Little bit of brown on the edges.

S - I really like the smell on this one. The smoke and char mix nicely with the vinous notes on this. It's a mixture that I find to be exceptionally appealing. There is some dark fruit and cocoa smell, the dark fruit is assuredly figs as that is what went into the beer.

T - I'm not as big of a fan of the taste, although I stress it does not taste bad. It's lighter than I expected, with some char, unsweetened chocolate, and a bit of figs. On the plus side, the alcohol is quite well hidden.

M - Little thinner than I was expecting, but appropriate carbonation.

O - Good beer that I can easily drink a ton of and get destroyed. Taste was not as good as I hoped, but that's not a complaint.
