Opaque brown-black color. Pours a short head that collapsed to a patchy skiff after a minute. Too dark to see the carbonation level. Left small dots of lacing.
Slightly sweet scent with a mild dark roasted malt. A hint of celery stalk. Swirling the glass kicked up a bit of barnyard and a stronger dark roasted malt.
Starts off almost taste-free. The dark roasted malt kicks in after a few seconds and builds up. Light-medium bitters. A little bit sour. The aftertaste is a continuation of the main flavor. The malt becomes more distinct and the bitters build up a bit as it fades out.
A thin layer of vigorous foam forms on my tongue and seems to initially block the flavor. Very light tingling. Quickly builds to a thick foam; feels slightly oily but never creamy. Medium body.
Interesting basic dark lager. This is not a complex beer. It showcases the basics.
