a new wit from these guys, but its pretty mediocre and for me at least a step backwards from all the progress in quality they have been making over the last year or so. the beer is light and simple, but i dont get much herbaceous coriander or refreshing citrus in here, instead i get a totally overdeveloped belgian yeast complexion, past banana and spices into estery and phenolic territory, some white grape and green pear elements are nice and lighten it up a bit, but it doesnt have much balance and i ended up finding this to be a little too belgiany for any real drinkability, no a quality i want in a wit. some orange zesty bitterness when it warms up and more body than flavor from the wheat malt, sturdy in texture but without contributing much. if this was dry and effervescent i could tolerate the yeast and the weight a little more, but the carbonation sags a little but and there is some sweet still there at the end from the grain, so it kind of misses a few of the marks i need in this style. i dont hate the beer, and i finish my pint, but almost everything else i have had from these guys over the past few months has been vastly superior to this...
